Even after reading the article, I still can’t make myself parse that sentence correctly. I know how it should be parsed but something just breaks down after about the fifth buffalo.

This photo of the gas tank fire from last week in KCK is pretty impressive. That fire was probably still burning at about half that height the next morning when I drove by it on the way to work (driving directly under the gigantic plume of smoke far above the highway), and was even smoldering still the next day. A million gallons of gas burns pretty well, it turns out.
